And not a drop to drink!

Stuart and Megan might appreciate this. Radio astronomers at Jodrell Bank have detected large clouds of alcohol in space. Unfortunately, it's methanol.

Comments:
The new methanol multibeam receiver on the Parkes telescope is so-called because it works at the frequecies at which the methanol molecule emits. It is being used to conduct a large survey of the Galaxy looking for new pulsars as well but, from the sounds of it, they have so far found more methanol clouds (masers) than pulsars! More on the project is here.

Thanks for that information Megan! Typical, it's an Aussie telescope that frinds alcohol in space when it should be finding other things!
